Barn Manager

The position of Barn Manager is an essential one at Wheatland Farm. Candidates for this position must have extensive management experience of large and/or show barns; excellent horse management skills with a thorough knowledge and understanding of equine feed and maintenance, health care, first aid and exercise, as well as strong organizational and personal skills. The barn manager is responsible to oversee every aspect of the care of our lesson and competition horses, as well as the management of additional support staff, service providers and volunteers. This position is a full time, forty (40) hour per week position. Successful candidates will be eligible for a generous benefits package, and an increase in pay after (6) months of successful employment at Wheatland Farm. Assistant Barn Manager

The position of Assistant Barn Manager is an essential one at Wheatland Farm. Candidates for this position must have extensive experience in large and/or show barns; excellent horse management skills with a thorough knowledge and understanding of health care, first aid and exercise, as well as strong organizational and personal skills. The Assistant Barn Manager is responsible for preparing lesson horses and ponies to show standards for lessons, as well as the management of volunteers. This position is roughly 30 hours a week. Successful candidates will be eligible for an increase in pay after (6) months of successful employment at Wheatland Farm. Riding Instructor (dressage, para dressage, pony club and eventing)

Wheatland Farm is a USEF/USPEA Center of Excellence for International Para Dressage, as well as being a United States Pony Club Riding Center. As such, Wheatland Farm strives to provide its students with excellence beginning with a foundation in dressage. Students may then progress to more advanced skills in jumping and cross country / eventing. Instructors applying for positions to teach in any of these disciplines may have certifications in US Para Dressage, USDF Instructor programs, USEA OR USHJA certifications, or Pony Club B or A graduates. Candidates may also have bronze, silver or gold medals through USDF.

Physical Therapist for our Hippotherapy Program

Applicants for the position of Physical Therapist Consultant/Hippotherpist must be currently licensed PTs in the state of Virginia. Experience in hippotherapy, and a certification as a Level 1 or 2 Hippotherapist is preferred. This is a part time position, and PTs are hired and paid as independent contractors, at the instructor compensation rate of $30 per hour. Estimated number of hours per week for this position are 8-10, and the hours are flexible, and based upon PT availability and student enrollment. Therapeutic Riding Instructor

The position of therapeutic riding instructor at Wheatland Farm is open to candidates who are certified to teach children and adults with disabilities through the Professional Association of Horsemanship International (also known as PATH, formerly NARHA). Instructors can also apply for a position teaching our typically developing students in the English disciplines. Certification by PATH is NOT required for instructors teaching these students -- however, certifications through the British Horse Society (BHS), American Riding Instructors Association (ARIA), the USDF, the USEA or United States Pony Club are preferred. Candidates for this position must be able to demonstrate excellent riding and teaching skills, as well as strong communication skills. Instructors are hired on a part time, contractor basis, at $30 per hour.
