Wheatland Farm Shines on Day Two of the 2025 Upperville Colt & Horse Show
Upperville, VA — June 3, 2025
Today was another incredible day for Wheatland Farm at the 172nd Upperville Colt & Horse Show! From start to finish, the energy was amazing and the results reflected the hard work and heart of our entire team.
The morning began bright and early with Anthony Forrest Equestrian’s Diamo AWH, affectionately known as “Danny,” stepping into the 3, 4 & 5 Year Old Hunter class. This young horse tackled his rounds with poise, gaining valuable experience in the ring. Danny wasn’t done yet—he went on to compete in the 3ft Green Hunter and delivered an outstanding round, scoring an impressive 83.5! For a horse this young, making his debut at such a prestigious venue, this was a truly exceptional achievement for both Danny and his Diamo AWH syndicate.
With little time to celebrate, Anthony was back in the saddle again—this time piloting Cloudy, the lovely Thoroughbred owned by Mrs. Janie Motion, in the Take 2 Thoroughbred division. Cloudy’s lovely way of going impressed the judges, earning a score of 77 in their first round, securing a place in the Classic. The pair wrapped up the Classic with a strong 79 and captured a third-place ribbon out of a competitive field of 28 horses. It was a moment of pride for both Anthony and the Motion family, who were thrilled with the heart this lovely horse showed!
Closing out the day on a wonderful note, Wheatland Farm student Nikki Hvozda and her own Freddy took part in the Back From the Track Hack class. The pair looked relaxed and happy as they floated through their walk, trot, and canter in the beautiful Parker Ring, enjoying every moment in this iconic setting under the oaks of Upperville.
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our team. We are deeply grateful to Carlos Herra, our barn manager, for his tireless dedication on the showgrounds. A huge thank you also goes to Jen Carr Connor, Walter Herra and Kristen Prompol, who kept everything running seamlessly back at Wheatland Farm while the rest of the team was out showing. Your commitment ensures that our horses and riders continue to thrive no matter where we are!
We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff of the Upperville Colt & Horse Show for delivering an incredible show so far. The organization and care behind the scenes this year are truly outstanding—perhaps the best we’ve ever seen. The support for competitors, horses, and spectators alike has been phenomenal. And let’s not forget the vendors! We’re especially proud to celebrate the UCHS debut of Mark Forrest Jr.’s Festina Lente brand making its first appearance at the UCHS!
With only two days of competition behind us, there’s still so much excitement to come! We invite everyone to come out and enjoy this spectacular event right in our own backyard. Be sure to join us this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Parker Ring for the Parade of Therapeutic Horsemanship and Para Equestrian Dressage—a meaningful and moving celebration of inclusion in equestrian sport.
Stay tuned for more updates as the week progresses—we can’t wait to share more victories, moments, and behind-the-scenes stories with you. See you under the oaks!
